Golf and Health

I’m Your Big Brother’s goal is to improve the Physical Health and Wellness of elementary age minority children by introducing them to the game of Golf, a game that they are not traditionally exposed to, and a game they can play for life!

Research has shown that Golf can increase life expectancy, help prevent chronic diseases, and improve mental health.

Dr. Andrew Murray reported, “We know that the moderate physical activity that Golf provides, increases life expectancy, has mental health benefits, and can help prevent and treat more than 40 major chronic diseases such as heart attacks, stroke, diabetes, breast and colon cancer.”

Golf is the perfect way to get children active!

I’m Your Big Brothers’ Urban Youth Golf program is directed by a certified Health and Physical Education teacher, employed by Oklahoma City Public Schools, with help skilled Golf instructors and volunteers.

We Believe in Keeping it Simple.

We teach beginners a Golf swing in a way that they will enjoy and have success. Our aim is to teach each child to have a simple and consistent swing, that allows them to take pleasure in the wonderful game of Golf.

We also help the children relate how Golf can provide physical exercise for a life-time which can help them lead healthy and prosperous lives. Additionally we provide a fitness plan and instruction, plus a diet program tailored to each Childs’ specific needs.

We partner with several local Golf courses and instructors within the community that are kid friendly. Contact us to become part of I’m Your Big Brother. No experience or Golf equipment is required.

“Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots; you get good breaks from bad shots – but you have to play the ball where it lies.”
